Our topic this half-term is:
Creative Curriculum - Identity and Urban Pioneers

Science- Living in Environments
R.E/SMSC- Buddhist Festivals
Indoor or outdoor PE – Monday and Wednesday afternoon.

PE
Please bring PE kits into school on a Monday or at the beginning of half-term and leave them in school. Please put your child’s name on any clothing/coats. Indoor/outdoor P.E is on Monday afternoon and Thursday afternoon. Your child will need a warm black or blue tracksuit and trainers for outdoor PE. Girls can wear blue or black leggings. They will also need a yellow or white t-shirt. Indoor PE kit is black or navy shorts or leggings and a white or yellow t-shirt.

NO jewellery can be worn for PE. Children should not wear earrings on the days when they have PE. If the earrings cannot be removed then please supply your child with plasters to cover the earrings.
Reading
We will be focusing heavily on reading. It is an important life skill and our aim is that all our children develop a love of reading; for interest, education and pleasure.
As a reading school, we encourage children to read in school and at home. Children can bring home Guided Reading books and can also borrow a book from our class library. As with any school property, books need to be returned in the condition they were in when taken home. Damage to books must be paid for.
Please encourage your child to read regularly at home. If you listen to your child read, please write a comment in your child’s reading record or encourage your child to write a comment. We will be monitoring reading records to check that children are reading at home.

Jewellery: Can we please remind parents that jewellery should not be worn in school apart from one pair of small stud earrings and a watch.  This is for health and safety reasons.
Any hijabs, hairbands or hair accessories need to be blue, black or white so they match school uniform.

Homework
It is school policy to give weekly homework to all children.
Please could you ensure that your child completes their homework over the weekend. Homework is handed out on a Friday and the completed work is due in on Monday morning. Please encourage and support your child to present their work neatly and to complete their homework on time. They need to use a pencil or a black pen for any written work. It would be helpful if you would practise Year 3 Mental Maths targets such as times tables (x2, x5 x10, x3, x4, x8)  with your child at home.

After School Activities
Please encourage your child to take part in an after school activity. There are a range of activities on offer and they benefit your child in lots of ways.
If your child attends an after school activity, please make sure you pick them up on time.

Thank-you for your continued support.
