Attendance
Doors open at 8.50 am. Please make sure your child gets to school on time every day as it is difficult to make up work if it has been missed. If, however, your child is really ill then please keep them at home and let us know as soon as possible.
Reading Books
Reading is an important life skill and our aim is that all our children develop a love of reading; for interest, education and pleasure.
As a reading school, we encourage children to read in school and at home. Children can bring home Guided Reading books and can also borrow a book from our class library or school library. As with any school property, books need to be returned in the condition they were in when taken home. Damage to books must be paid for.
Please encourage your child to read regularly at home. If you listen to your child read, please write a comment in your child’s reading record or encourage your child to write a comment.
Homework
Homework will be given out every Friday. Please support your child to complete homework neatly and bring it back to school each Monday. They need to use a pencil or a black pen for any written work. Please also encourage your child to practise Year 3 maths targets: 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 10 times tables and related division facts (e.g. if 3x5=15 then 15÷5=3 and 15÷3=5). Children need to be secure with these facts and be able to recall them rapidly.
P.E.
All children need a P.E. kit clearly labelled with their name - this will help us to identify any clothing that gets lost.
Outdoor or indoor P.E. on Monday pm: indoor kit is plain yellow or white t-shirt, navy blue or black P.E. shorts or leggings and black pumps.
Outdoor P.E. on Thursday pm: outdoor kit is blue or black tracksuit, yellow or white t-shirt and trainers.
P.E. kits can be left in school and taken home at half term to be washed.
For Health and Safety reasons, earrings must be removed on days when your child has P.E. Alternatively, your child can bring in plasters to cover the earrings.
